Man of Steel is a romantic and funny coming-of-age story. Victor, a 13-year-old boy, is desperately looking for his First Kiss. When that First Kiss comes too close, Victor seeks refuge in his imagination, becoming the Man of Steel who has no emotions, because tears will make him rust. But no Man of Steel can resist Fania, a 13-year-old girl, for very long.

Man of Steel est une histoire romantique et drôle sur la majorité. Victor, un garçon de 13 ans, cherche désespérément après son premier baiser. Lorsque son premier baiser approche, Victor cherche refuge dans son imagination, devenant l’homme d’acier qui n’a pas d’émotion, car les larmes le feraient rouiller. Mais aucun homme d’acier ne peut résister très longtemps à Fania, une jeune fille de 13 ans.
Augustus 1993, Koning Boudewijn is overleden. Het land treurt. Ook Victor's vader is onlangs gestorven. De 13-jarige jongen is met vakantie bij zijn tante en oom aan de Belgische kust. Fania is even oud als hij. Ze hebben een boontje voor elkaar, maar zijn te bedeesd om elkaar de eerste kus te geven. Bang om verliefd te worden, vlucht Victor weg in zijn fantasie en wordt de 'Man van staal', een onverschrokken ruimteheld die geen emoties kent.
