synopsis

Miracle n°71 is the story of Nathalie Basteyns, film director and MS patient, who is searching for a miracle. After ten years in a wheelchair, Nathalie wants to be able to walk again. Together with photographer Lieve Blancquaert and her nurse, Gustave Dikumueni, she travels from Brussels to Lourdes. In Lourdes, 70 miracles have been officially recognised by the Catholic Church and Nathalie hopes to put number 71 to her name. Along the way, she seeks answers to all her questions in both science and faith.
Miracle n°71 est l'histoire de Nathalie Basteyns, réalisatrice belge souffrant de la SEP, qui est à la recherche d'un miracle. Après dix années en fauteuil roulant, Nathalie veut pouvoir marcher. En compagnie de la photographe Lieve Blancquaert et de son infirmier Gustave Dikumueni, elle voyage de Bruxelles à Lourdes. A Lourdes, 70 miracles ont été officiellement reconnus par l'Eglise catholique et Nathalie espère mettre numéro 71 à son nom. Miracle n°71 est sa quête de guérir -ou d’accepter- sa maladie. En cours de route, elle cherche des réponses à toutes ses questions dans la science et la foi.
Mirakel n°71 is het verhaal van Nathalie Basteyns, regisseur en MS patiënt, die op zoek gaat naar een mirakel. Na tien jaar in een rolstoel wil Nathalie terug kunnen lopen. Samen met fotografe Lieve Blancquaert en haar vaste verpleger Gustave Dikumueni reist ze van Brussel naar Lourdes. In Lourdes zijn 70 mirakels officieel door de katholieke kerk erkend en Nathalie hoopt nummer 71 op haar naam te kunnen schrijven. Mirakel n°71 is de zoektocht van Nathalie naar genezing -of aanvaarding- van haar ziekte. Onderweg zoekt ze antwoorden op al haar vragen in zowel de wetenschap als het geloof.
