When it is time for Patterson Pepps to go to school, his best friend, giraffe Raf, feels excluded. Patterson comes up with a brilliant plan...

synopsis

Patterson Pepps has a best friend: Raf, a giraffe. Raf and Patterson grow up together as Patterson lives next to the zoo and they were born on the exact same day. When they reach the age that they have to go to school for the first time, both are very excited. When Patterson realises Raf isn't going to join him at school he is very sad, but he enjoys school more than he expected and actually makes a new friend: Eduard. Raf, however, feels left out. Fortunately, Patterson comes up with a brilliant plan to bring Raf to school and to unite his two best mates.
Patterson Peps a un meilleur ami : c’est Raf. Ils sont nés le même jour et ils jouent chaque jour ensemble. C’est très facile car Patterson habite juste en face du zoo, où le grand père de Patterson travaille depuis longtemps comme soigneur animalier. Et il faut dire que Raf est une girafe. Patterson et Raf fêtent chaque année leur anniversaire ensemble. Le jour de leurs 4 ans, c’est un jour encore plus spécial car ils pourront aller à l’école le lendemain ! Mais une grande déception survient. Après l’école, Patterson se rend chez Raf et lui raconte avec beaucoup d’embarras que l’école n’est pas faite pour les girafes, mais seulement pour les enfants... C’est du moins ce que les grandes personnes lui ont raconté. Enfin Patterson a trouvé une solution pour sauver son amitié avec Raf.
Dikkertje Dap, uit het versje van Annie M.G. Schmidt, is op dezelfde dag geboren als de giraf Raf. Dikkertje is vaak in de dierentuin, want Raf is zijn beste vriend. Ze zijn onafscheidelijk, tot Dikkertje voor het eerst naar school gaat en erachter komt dat giraffen niet naar school mogen. Dikkertje mist Raf enorm, maar maakt ook spannende nieuwe dingen mee. Hij krijgt zelfs een nieuwe vriend, Yous. Raf mist Dikkertje ook. Daarom bedenkt Dikkertje een plan om de giraf mee naar school te nemen en zijn twee vrienden bij elkaar te brengen.
