synopsis

Nelly and Nadine fall in love on Christmas Eve 1944, in the Ravensbrück concentration camp. For many years, their lifelong relationship was kept a secret. Now Nelly’s grandchild, Sylvie, is discovering their story.
La veille de Noël 1944, Nelly de Bruxelles et Nadine de France se rencontrent pour la première fois dans le camp de concentration de Ravensbrück. La guerre divise leurs chemins, mais leur amour l’un pour l’autre les fait avancer.
In 2007 zag regisseur Magnus Gertten archiefbeelden uit 1945 waarop overlevenden te zien waren die vanuit Duitse concentratiekampen aankwamen in het Zweedse Malmö. Een van hen was Nadine Hwang. Zo stootte hij op het onwaarschijnlijke levensverhaal van Nelly en Nadine. In de laatste maanden van de oorlog raken ze gescheiden, maar ze slagen erin om elkaar terug te vinden en besluiten om hun leven met elkaar te delen, al houden ze hun liefdesrelatie geheim voor familie en vrienden. De kleindochter van Nelly duikt in de persoonlijke archieven van haar grootmoeder en onthult het ontroerende liefdesverhaal van Nelly en Nadine.
