synopsis

Loosely inspired by Henrik Ibsen's famous theatre character Peer Gynt, this film tells the story of a young man living in a small village in the Congolese tropical rainforest. Absorbed by his own world of imagination, he finds himself trapped in a desolate environment where, apart from his mother, nobody believes in his dreams and the miracles he always talks about. When Peer Gynt disappears one day, his world of imagination seems to descend upon the village.
Inspiré du personnage de théâtre renommé de Henrik Ibsen le film de Peer Gynt raconte l’histoire d’un jeune garçon habitant dans un petit village de la forêt équatoriale. Complètement absorbé dans sa propre imagination il se trouve emprisonné dans un monde où tous les gens autour de lui, sauf sa mère, rejettent les contes dont il parle sans cesse. _Quand un jour sa mère décède, Peer Gynt décide de quitter son village. Après son départ il paraît que son imagination vient descendre sur le village. _Le film de Peer Gynt est un voyage à travers un monde où la réalité et l’imagination sont entrelacés.
Geïnspireerd op Henrik Ibsens bekende theaterpersonage van Peer Gynt, vertelt deze film het verhaal van een jonge man levend in een klein dorpje in het Congolese regenwoud. Badend in zijn eigen verbeelding, leeft hij gevangen in een wereld waarin niemand, buiten zijn moeder, zijn verhalen en mirakels waarover hij steeds vertelt gelooft. Als na het sterven van zijn moeder Peer Gynt plots verdwijnt lijkt zijn verbeelding over het dorp neer te dalen. De film is een reis door een wereld waarin realiteit en verbeelding door elkaar heen vloeien.
