Young dancer Irma watches the battle between ambition and self-destruction when her best friend Olga becomes the star performer of the Royal Ballet in Amsterdam.

synopsis

Irma and Olga are young dancers, trying to make their way in the demanding world of ballet in 1970s Amsterdam. When Olga is launched as the new star of the Royal Ballet, she soon discovers the dark side of her talent. Irma watches from the wings as her best friend battles the pressure to perform, and gradually loses herself in the city’s nightlife. Piece of my Heart tells the story of an exceptional talent, and the ultimate friendship.
Amsterdam, de jaren 70. Terwijl Olga en Irma, beiden getalenteerde danseressen, zich staande proberen te houden in de veeleisende en ambitieuze balletwereld, wordt Olga als de grote nieuwe ster van het Koninklijk Ballet gelanceerd. Al snel ontdekt Olga ook de schaduwzijde van haar talent en moet Irma toezien hoe haar beste vriendin bezwijkt onder de prestatiedruk, zichzelf verliezend in het losbandige nachtleven. Piece of my Heart vertelt het verhaal over uitzonderlijk talent, maar bovenal dat van een ultieme vriendschap.
