Sandy is 15. She and her mentally disabled brother Jimmy live with their mother Nell and stepfather Rob, whom Sandy refuses to accept as a father figure. She holds on to the only living memory of her natural father: Rascal, the dog. When Rob has the old pet put to sleep, Sandy, irritated and obstinate, withdraws even more into herself.

Sandy is 15. She and her mentally disabled brother Jimmy live with their mother Nell and stepfather Rob, whom Sandy refuses to accept as a father figure. She holds on to the only living memory of her natural father: Rascal, the dog. When Rob has the old pet put to sleep, Sandy, irritated and obstinate, withdraws even more into herself. She finds comfort with Lydia, a former social worker, whom she tells all about her nightmares, which have some sexual elements in them and in which Rob appears as well. Lydia starts proclaiming loudly that Sandy is yet another victim of sexual abuse. As a result, Rob is subject to a whole series of accusations and the public opinion grows increasingly convinced of his guilt. Nell, who is drawn into the media battle as well, finally succeeds at exposing the chain of half-truths, coincidences and lies.
Sandy a 15 ans. Elle et Jimmy, son frère handicapé, vivent avec leur mère Nell et leur beau-père Rob, que Sandy refuse d’accepter comme une figure paternelle. Elle se raccroche au seul souvenir qu’elle a de son père biologique : son chien Rascal. Lorsque Rob fait euthanasier le vieil animal, Sandy, furieuse et obstinée, se renferme encore plus sur elle-même. Elle trouve du réconfort auprès de Lydia, une ancienne assistante sociale, à qui elle raconte tous ses cauchemars contenant certains éléments sexuels et où Rob apparaît également. Lydia commence à clamer haut et fort que Sandy est une nouvelle victime d’abus sexuel. En conséquence, Rob fait l’objet d’une série d’accusations et l’opinion publique est de plus en plus convaincue de sa culpabilité. Nell, également entraînée dans le jeu médiatique, arrivera finalement àmettre en lum ière la suite de demi-vérités, de coïncidences et de mensonges.
