synopsis

It all begins at 11.11 on the eleventh of the eleventh in the run up to the annual carnival. When the longstanding carnival prince is forced to step aside for health reasons, his two children both decide to try to keep the title in the family. Very soon, what started as an innocent bit of brotherly/sisterly competition turns into bitter rivalry, with unforeseen consequences all round.
Op 11 november, den elfde van den elfde, wordt volgens de traditie in het gehucht Kerke de Prins Carnaval gewijd. Al 35 jaar is dat al even traditiegetrouw varkensboer Hubert Geunings. Tijdens de carnavalsweken zwaait hij de scepter in het dorp dat dan tijdelijk Knorrendonk heet. Er gelden dan enkel de wetten van het feesten en het zuipen. Maar dit jaar loopt het anders. Hubert krijgt een niet mis te verstane waarschuwing dat de jarenlange mateloosheid zijn tol begint te eisen; het wordt tijd om naar een opvolger uit te kijken. Zijn vrouw Marie-José vindt het erg belangrijk dat de titel van Prins Carnaval in de familie blijft. Maar niet alle dorpelingen denken daar zo over. Ook in de familie zelf ontaardt de opvolgingskwestie in een verregaande rivaliteit. Wonden uit het verleden dreigen open te barsten. Nieuwe schandalen kondigen zich aan. Een serie over liefde, varkens en zingen wanneer het al pratend niet meer lukt.
