synopsis

The Invisibles follows filmmaker Martijn Blekendaal as he captures the remarkable stories of children who have mastered the art of inventive invisibility. They include street children who possess the skills to blend seamlessly into their surroundings, a resilient elderly woman who honed her ability to move silently and remain inconspicuous during wartime, and a boy without legal residency who expertly evades the authorities throughout his young life. Martijn records these tales of creative invisibility, ultimately realising his own superhero dream.
Filmmaker Martijn Blekendaal vindt dat er een superheld moet komen voor onzichtbare kinderen. Kinderen die onzichtbaar moeten zijn, omdat ze hun leven anders niet zeker zijn. In The Invisible Ones vertelt hij de verhalen van vier kinderen – van wie sommigen inmiddels al 85 jaar oud – die de kunst van het ongemerkt blijven leerden beheersen. Het is iets dat hij in zijn eigen leven ook heeft leren doen.
