Wiplala, a pubescent boy only four inches tall from the Land of Wiplala is not very good at his country's special gift, called 'betinkling'. He decides to leave and ends up in the kitchen cabinet of the dysfunctional Blom family.

synopsis

Wiplala is a pubescent boy only four inches tall. He's not a leprechaun though; he is a 'wiplala' from the Land of Wiplala. Wiplalas have a special gift called 'betinkling'. The problem is that Wiplala is not very good at betinkling, which is why he decides to leave. After a long journey crawling through a tunnel, he arrives in the kitchen cabinet of the Blom family. Mr Blom, the father of this one-parent family, doesn't have a lot of time nor does he pay much attention to his kids; the vulnerable young Johannes who misses his dead mother and 11-year-old Nella Della, already too independent and mature for her age.
Wiplala, de titelheld van de film, is een 10 centimeter grote puber van een jaar of 14. Let wel, het is geen kabouter, het is een wiplala afkomstig uit het land van de wiplala’s waar iedereen kan toveren, al noemen ze het daar tinkelen. Wiplala kan echter niet zo goed tinkelen, daarom verlaat hij zijn land . Kruipend door een lange gang belandt hij in de keukenkast van de familie Blom. Meneer Blom, de vader van dit eenoudergezin heeft weinig tijd en aandacht voor zijn kinderen, de dyslectische Johannes en de zelfstandige Nella Della en haar knuffelbare kat Vlieg. Te midden van dit zoekende gezin belandt de eveneens zoekende Wiplala.
