Police chief Lex enters the virus-ridden cordon to be with his loved one, but discovers that a supposedly full-proof virus test violently pits the lucky ones against the less fortunate - especially as a religious group considers themselves to be the chosen ones.

synopsis

Jana has been reunited with her friend, Commissioner Lex, who is now with her inside the cordon. Together, they must take care of Quinten, whose mother died in the quarantine zone. Officer Jokke is infected with the deadly virus, as is Dr. Cannaerts. The doctor makes a hasty decision to test experimental antiviral drugs on himself and Jokke. Outside the cordon, senior civil servant Sabine Lommers tries to launch a cover-up operation as to the real origin of the virus. Then comes the salvational but also dangerous news that for some there may be light at the end of the tunnel: the setting up of a transit zone, an intermediate station between the cordon and the outside world. But who will and who will not be allowed in? Is everything really fair? Will life ever get back to normal?
Jana is herenigd met haar vriend, commissaris Lex die nu ook in het cordon zit. Samen moeten ze zich ontfermen over Quinten, wiens moeder in het cordon stierf. Agent Jokke is besmet met het dodelijk virus, net als Dr. Cannaerts. De arts besluit halsoverkop om experimentele virusremmers op zichzelf en Jokke te testen. En buiten het cordon probeert topambtenaar Sabine Lommers Operatie Doofpot te starten rond de echte origine van het virus. En dan komt het verlossende maar tevens gevaarlijke nieuws dat er voor sommigen een licht aan het einde van de tunnel kan zijn. Een transitzone, een tussenstation tussen het cordon en de buitenwereld. Maar wie mag erin en wie niet? Verloopt alles wel eerlijk? En zal het leven ooit nog normaal worden?
