synopsis

This series is about the international commemoration route that connects important milestones in WWII. The route forms a chain between the most important regions in the advance of the Western Allies: from southern England to the vast beaches of Normandy, from Paris to the Belgian Ardennes, and from the southern Netherlands to the Hürtgenwald forest, with Berlin as its final destination. The series guides us along this route, accompanied by local hosts who each have a link with the Second World War. Alongside the facts, told through the use of personal documents, they relate their personal stories, providing an alternative view of events.
Voices of Liberation is een 11-delige documentairereeks over de internationale herdenkingsroute die belangrijke mijlpalen uit de bevrijding van West naar Oost bij de Tweede Wereldoorlog met elkaar verbindt. We volgen de opmars van de westelijke geallieerden: vanaf Zuid-Engeland naar de stranden van Normandië, de Belgische Ardennen, Zuid-Nederland en Berlijn. We doorlopen de route onder begeleiding van lokale bekende hosts die ieder hun eigen link hebben met de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Naast de feiten vertellen zij ook hun persoonlijke verhalen en geven zo het publiek een andere kijk op de gebeurtenissen.
